How we worked this out

We read menus from venues’ own websites, as they publish them, between 13 and 16 October 2026. Each menu counts once, prices as printed. A chain’s branches that serve the same menu count as one menu. We never name a venue: every figure here is a median, a range or a share, with the number of menus it rests on.

The price of onion rings is each menu’s first price for it, matched by name across menus however they spell or order its words. The middle 80% leaves out the cheapest and dearest tenth of menus, so no single menu sets the range.
